MESA ARCH AMBIENCE
Date:
April 6, 2009
Description:
The alarm went off at 5:30 and I crawled out of my sleeping bag and into my clothes. The frost on my tent fell to the ground as I creeped out under the rain fly. A short drive and hike and I was ready for the sunrise at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park.
I had spend the past two days photographing in the snow and rain and was ready for some sunshine.
At 7:05 the much anticipated sun peaked over the La Sal Mountains and the magic began to happen.
Seconds after the sun peaked through, the underside of Mesa Arch began to glow. Everything had fallen in place. The sun finally came out, the skies were clear and there was still some snow clinging to the sides of the canyon wall.
After spending 15 minutes shooting a variety of images through the arch, I took a couple of hours to hike and shoot around the canyon rim.
This was the last day of my photo excursion to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah.
